A home theater

52 HERTZ premiered as a collaboration between Anna-Kirstine Linke (text and direction), Anna Gohmert (stage) and Nikolai Prawdzic (dramaturgy) on April 30, 2020 at the Neumarkt in Zurich. While the lockdown led to the closing of theaters, 52 HERTZ allowed people to experience theater at home. 52 HERTZ is a “mail piece”. You receive a letter from the theater, which you then open in your kitchen at home, at the same time as 29 other people who have also received mail for the same day as you. The other 29 people are also each at their own homes. The letter then turns any home into a theater. Hence the name of the genre “Home Theater”.

The piece was invited to the festival “6 Tage Frei” 2021 in Stuttgart. The biennial festival offers the audience the opportunity to get an overview of the most outstanding productions of Baden-Württemberg of the last two years. A supra-regional jury of six experts will award ten productions.. Their selection presents the aesthetic diversity of contemporary performing arts, introducing performative models that sometimes disrupt and renegotiate the relationship between audience and actors, between artistic disciplines, art and society.
