Radical Measures

They`re back in the focus of public attention, yet clandestine, and not just after declaring war on the Russian Government: You think hackers sit in the basement of their parents’ homes in front of their computer screens, wearing a black hoody and drinking Club Mate all day and night?

Together with our guests, we test our clichéd thinking, surprise with the impact hacking has on our everyday lives and the influence of hacking on pop culture in sound, imagery and video. We unearth the hidden history of hacking and check the radical measures of hacktivism.  

Our guests on stage are: 
Gabriella (Biella) Coleman is a digital anthropologist and full professor in the Department of Anthropology at Harvard University. In her book “Hacker, Hoaxer, Whistleblower, Spy”, Biella explores “The Many Faces of Anonymous”.  
Together with Paula Bialski, associate professor at University of St. Gallen and also known as “the hacker-whisperer”, Biella runs "Hack_Curio", a video portal into hackerdom that helps explain why hacking is one of the most important phenomena of global culture and politics of our time. 
 
And on stage, too, is maia crimew, hacktivist from Lucerne who got indicted by the US in 2021 and charged with crimes including wire fraud and identity theft.
