The architectural intervention on the exterior façade of the Theater Neumarkt aims to make social interaction visible.
From the outside, the periscope allows participation in the inner workings of the theater. The optics focus on a specific section of the theater hall with the effect that viewers can see fragments of the room as well as scenes of the program from a safe distance or take a look behind the scenes. It opens up the possibility of low-threshold participation in the diverse cultural offerings. You do this alone, much like in front of a screen. However, you gain an exclusive live experience, just not like streaming.
Inside, the reflection of the space through the periscope causes a confrontation of the ensemble with external views. The ensemble is thus invited to interact with the viewers in these voyeuristic moments.
