The talent of obsession. But I sometimes use it as a driving force to create.
Yara Bou Nassar is a performer and theater maker from Beirut interested in inspecting identity with respect to collective memory. She focuses on the deconstruction of social stereotypes and daily behavior in the urban context as well as in the private and intimate spaces. She is particularly interested in telling stories through dissecting manifestations of discomfort in the body in different forms. She got selected for a residency at Work Space Brussels where she began the creation of her new project titled “Tomorrow is the Best Day of My Life” which is still in the creation phase and will premiere in 2021. She also was recently selected for the French Institute /Cité Internationale des Arts residency program 2020 for the development of another new creation “The Missed Adventure of a Hypothetical French Woman” (working title). Her most recent collaboration was directing the play “This is Not a Memorized Script, it is a Well rehearsed story” written and performed by Dima Mikhael Matta. Other performances and creations include: “Sometimes I Like to Stand Up Right”, “Everything Is Just Fine”, “The Wedding”, “Collecting Home” among others. Yara graduated from the Lebanese University of Arts and took part of different workshops (Strasberg Institute , Compagnie Du Zieu, Esquella de Mimo, Federico Leon, Kassem Bayatli, among others).She has acted with theater directors such as Julien Bouffier, Fouad Naim, Shakib Khoury, Sahar Assaf, Wissam Arbache. And she has acted with film directors such as Philippe Aractangi, Bane Fakih, and Farah Shaer. Since the season 2020/21 Yara is an ensemble member at Neumarkt.
