Biography
Sophia Brous is a cross-disciplinary artist, performer, director and musician based between New York and Melbourne, Australia. She is a resident artist of The Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York and former Artistic Associate of Arts Centre Melbourne, where she founded Supersense: Festival of the Ecstatic. 
Brous' practice draws on far-reaching interests in devised performance,  music theatre, cross-disciplinary collaboration and contemporary music. Her recent works include opera for public space 'The Invisible Opera' (2021 - for Singapore Festival, Steirischerherbst, Southbank Centre, BAM); Faye Driscoll’s Weathering (2023 - for New York Live Arts, Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Teatro Municipal Do Porto, RedCat LA); multidisciplinary theatre work Mount Analogue (2022-  for Oslo Opera, Ultima Festival, Royal Danish Theatre); Ursula K Le Guin's Music and Poetry of the Kesh for RVNG International, Paris Review and New York large ensemble Exo-Tech, which she leads with pop innovator Kimbra. Brous’ work has been presented at The Barbican, Southbank, Paris Philharmonie, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center Washington, De Deolen Rotterdam, BAM, Pioneer Works, Sydney Opera House, Oslo Opera and DOCUMENTA Athens.
