Racines du Ciel

The participatory performance "Racines du Ciel", conceived by photo artist Cedric Bregnard, will take place in the Wasserkirche as part of the "stilles Zürich" festival from February 29 to March 3, 2024. 
The focus of the project is the creation of a collaborative work of art, giving visitors the opportunity to paint together over four days on an image of a remarkable tree and its roots. Coming together and drawing in a meditative environment such as the Wasserkirche offers a unique experience. The powerful symbolism of the tree is intended to bring together people of all ages, nationalities and faiths. All are invited to connect with nature through the representation of the tree and to find their own roots through the gesture of drawing. No special drawing or painting skills are required, visitors will be welcomed on site and introduced to the theme. 
The tree is printed in halftones and covers an area of three by four meters. Equipped with black brush pens and black ink, the participants are accompanied to add more contrast to the image. The overall volume of the tree is gradually made visible by playing with the contrast between light and shadow.
